The Wisconsin Pink Shawl initiative has been awarded the YWCA’s “Empowering
Women Award”. The award will be presented at the YWCA’s “Evening to
Promote Racial Justice” held at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts,
December 2, 2009. An Evening to Promote Racial Justice is a celebration of
community leadership that provides the opportunity to speak openly about racism.

At the event, individuals, corporations and organizations are recognized for their
commitment to eliminating racism and empowering women in Milwaukee’s schools,
neighborhoods and workplaces.
